One question sometimes becomes a reason for patients to think over and doubt: how high is the possibility that after all strength, energy and money is given away the implant will simply not survive and all that will be lost?
We are glad to inform such patients: today a big variety of dental operations are specially developed in order to almost totally exclude the possibility of such an outcome and shorten the period of implant’s adherence. Sterility, development of an operation performance plan, a special surgery room, presence of professional doctors – these are some conditions that modern dentists have for successful adherence of an implant with bone tissues.
However, it is worth mentioning that material, which is used to make an implant, plays a big part in success of survival. Using special biocompatible materials increases and improves implant’s survival rate.
A model of implant’s configuration, which is maximally close to a real one, can be created using computer technologies before the operation. It is possible to perform surgery dealing a minimal damage to soft tissues and with a nuisance risk of their infection if the peculiarities of each exact client’s mouth cavity configuration is taken into consideration.
Material that is used for making coronas, which in their turn can be of two types: temporary, used only during the period of adherence, and permanent, installed after the implant is integrated with bone tissues, – also plays part in the process of implants’ adherence. Currently the period of dental implant’s engraftment differs depending on the place where it is installed, what is stipulated by peculiarities of bone anatomy and role that each jaw plays in the chewing process. Thus, engraftment of implant installed on the upper jaw can maximally last 6 months, and lower – 4 months. However, these terms can be shortened if you make your choice for an instant implantation that guarantees to you that you will leave doctor’s office with temporary corona or detachable prosthetics, which will be based on installed implant. Nevertheless, success of adherence in terms of instant implantation cannot be guaranteed.
If doctor finds an individual reaction of your body to an implant, he or she still has a chance to save it as there are special procedures foreseen in such cases. For instance, temporary denture can be made of plastics in order to decrease pressure and provide maximal lightness for the implant. Most probably, you will have to visit doctor several times for checkup during the engraftment process. One more visit should be made after the adherence is over in order to install conjunction elements made of biocompatible materials and set permanent corona.
If the soft tissues were infected and/or they were mechanically damaged during the procedure or after it then it means that the implant was made without consideration of all your personal anatomic peculiarities.
Sometimes doctor can use plasma received from patient’s own blood in order to stimulate the engraftment process and recovery of soft tissues. Such a method shortens the adherence period for 2 months for each jaw respectively: engraftment period will be 4 months for upper jaw and 2 months for lower.
